The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences was established in the academic year 2015-2016. It is one of the departments of the College of Education for Girls. It is an academic department that serves all college students in the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences prepares educational cadres in order to advance the educational reality, capable of providing educational and psychological assistance to the institutions of Iraqi society through seminars, workshops and cooperation mechanisms capable of serving the community and providing students with knowledge in the fields of education and psychology.

Objectives
The department contributes to the process of preparing and developing manpower and works to achieve important aspects of the overall goal
The general objectives of the educational system, the objectives of higher education, and the objectives of the College of Education for Girls in particular. The department also aims at the following:
1- Preparing the students scientifically, professionally and culturally and enabling them to know educational and psychological facts, concepts and theories, and to absorb the basic principles that qualify them for teaching, scientific research, and educational and psychological guidance in educational, psychological and social institutions, as well as benefiting from them in the future of their lives as mothers and educational leaders.
2- Enabling female students to apply practical methods in dealing with life and professional problems and situations, and developing the ability to analyze and judge these methods in the light of specific criteria and knowledge of an accurate definition, while they are teaching, researching and guiding after graduation.
3- Helping students to acquire attitudes and values in a way that deepens faith in God and spiritual values
* And the morality that the true Islamic religion and other monotheistic religions brought. In harmony with our Arab values, and the strengthening of feelings of citizenship and belonging, bringing them to the highest levels of progress and intellectual and psychological maturity.
*4- Developing the trends, tendencies and desires of female students and developing their capabilities towards the teaching profession and scientific research to face problems in a way that serves the community.
*5- Enabling female students to acquire basic skills related to the teaching and research profession and working on their development to perform their work successfully, solve educational problems and face life situations with high efficiency, especially during the teaching profession.
