
University of Basrah organizes a symposium on applied geographical research
The College of Education for Women at the University of Basra organized a symposium entitled Applied Geographical Research and its Impact on Sustainable Development and Community Service.
The symposium held by the Geography Department dealt with applied geographical research and its impact on sustainable development and community service to achieve sustainable development goals, preserve human rights for future generations and achieve the best ways of life.
The symposium tackled, through 15 various research studies, the water crisis and the salinity of the Shatt al-Arab, studies on pollution in river waters, the problems of desertification, transportation and social services, interest in agriculture and its relationship to providing the ration, as well as various development studies.
The symposium came out with a number of recommendations, including the necessity of obligating state departments to apply the results of geographical studies and benefit from them because of their impact on economic and social development and its reflection on political and security stability.
