
University of Basrah organizes a symposium on the rules of public international law
The College of Education for Women at the University of Basra organized a symposium entitled "The Effectiveness of Countermeasures in Applying the Rules of Public International Law"
The symposium presented by Dr. Janan Salman Nahi from Al-Nahrain University dealt with the various justifications for the use of force in international relations that decreased with the development of international organization, including those cases that were permitted by international law, and this is due to the text of Article (2/4) of the Charter of the United Nations that named The circle of prohibition of the use of force is different from what it is in the international documents that preceded it, as its prohibition of the use of force in international relations was not limited to war only, but extended to the absolute use or threat of force.
She added, however, that the use of force outside the framework of international organizations still exists in some forms of countermeasures, in which some still see it as a form of international sanctions signed by the United Nations, if another country commits an act of aggression and a threat to and breach of peace before it.
