University of Basrah organizes a symposium on food security and its repercussions on the Arab region
The College of Education for Women at the University of Basra organized a symposium entitled "Food Security and its Repercussions on the Arab Region, the Ukrainian Crisis".
The symposium presented by the lecturer in the Department of History, Dr. Muntaha Sabri Mawla, addressed that food crises were and still are the cause of famine, and many revolutions that changed international systems, such as the French Revolution, were caused by the food crisis that changed the regime at the time.
She added that several Arab revolutions took place due to food crises, such as the recent Arab revolutions, and since the Arab region relied and still depends on Russian and Ukrainian wheat for its cheap prices; Therefore, we note the beginning of the emergence of the food security crisis in the Arab region and the rise in prices due to the suspension of shipments of Russian and Ukrainian ships and their detention in the ports.
