The Division of Continuing Education at the College of Education for Girls organized an electronic symposium on "environmental pollution, its causes, effects, and ways to reduce it."
The symposium presented by Prof. Dr. Taghreed Musallam Marioush aimed at defining environmental pollution, its causes and its effects on the environment.
The symposium dealt with the definition of pollution as the introduction of various substances that cause a negative change in the natural environment. Pollution may be in the form of matter (solid, liquid, or gaseous) or in the form of energy (such as radioactivity, heat, noise, or light).
The symposium showed that pollution is divided into three basic types, which are:
Water pollution, soil pollution, and air pollution. Society has recently turned to modern types of pollution, which are: noise pollution, visual pollution, and plastic pollution.
The symposium came out with several recommendations, including: Reducing polluting activities and encouraging organic production.
Reducing waste production, avoiding resource depletion, adopting waste recycling and treatment, and avoiding wasting drinking water.
