A lecturer at the University of Basra participates in an international conference on scientific research in confronting global risks
Lecturer at the College of Education for Girls, Dr. Muntaha Sabri Mawla, from the Department of History, participated in the second international scientific conference entitled Scientific Research in the Face of Global Threats, which was held by the International Union of Historians in cooperation with the International Court of Arbitration.
The participation included a research paper entitled “The Russian-Ukrainian war and its impact on US-Russian relations,” as this war is the major turning point in relations between Russia and the United States of America and has not witnessed this tension since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
The participation addressed the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin towards Ukraine because of its efforts to join NATO, so he tried to find new justifications to overthrow the government of pro-Western Ukrainian President Zelensky.
The participation concluded that US-Russian relations have reached a stage of unprecedented tension, as the US administration has taken a set of diplomatic, military and economic measures against Russia.
