University of Basra organizes a symposium on artificial intelligence and its applications in geography

The Geography Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Girls, organized a symposium on artificial intelligence and its applications in geography, presented by a number of Geography Department teachers.

The symposium included three basic topics: the concept of artificial intelligence, the history of its development, the most important applications used in it, and applied fields in geography, in addition to applied advantages and disadvantages.

The symposium discussed 25 research papers that dealt with the relationship of artificial intelligence to various disciplines such as climate, agriculture, transportation, cities, politics, and historical studies, in addition to presenting the most important international experiences within this application.

The discussants at the symposium recommended the need to move towards research on artificial intelligence, whether in the field of geography or other fields, as well as in graduate studies, and adequate support must be provided for related research.
