The Geography Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Girls, organized a symposium on the impact of recurring dust storms on changing maritime activity in Khor Al-Zubair Port, presented by lecturer Nabaa Karim Ahmed.

The symposium addressed the impact of recurring persistent and rising dust storms and their impact on maritime activity in the port of Khor Al-Zubair. This affected the maritime commercial movement in the aforementioned port.

The symposium calculated that the number of dust storms in the 2018-2019 season was (1) per day, so the port’s commercial traffic was active with (450) ships. As for the (2010-2011) season, the rising dust was (60) days per season, which in turn affected the Commercial traffic in the port, as the number of ships decreased to (72) ships.
