Lecturer at the College of Education for Girls, Dr. Muntaha Sabri Mawla, from the Department of History, participated in the international conference on current international strategic developments, which was held by Azad Isfahan University in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Dr. Mawla’s participation came under the title of Israel’s position on the Russian-Ukrainian war 2022-2023, because of its important impact on our central issue, Palestine.

The study dealt with Russian-Israeli relations and the progress they witnessed since the Soviet Union recognized the Zionist entity in 1948, and these relations continued until the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022, when these relations entered a very dangerous turn.

The study touched on the major turning point in the Israeli position on the war, which came when the Hamas movement launched a surprise attack against the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip, known as Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” which resulted in the killing and captivity of hundreds of Israelis, and in return, tens of thousands of Palestinians were killed and wounded, especially from Children and women.

The study added that Hamas' attack on Israeli settlements coincided with escalating tension between Russia and Israel over the war in Ukraine. This was in Russia's favor as the West turned towards Palestine and reduced military support for Ukraine.
