Dr. Muntaha Sabri Mawla, a lecturer in the History Department at the College of Education for Girls, participated in the international conference on (Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence among Peoples), which was held by the Elite Center for Research and Studies, Arab Universities and Research Institutions at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basra.

The participation was titled (The 1967 Gapsan Incident and its Impact on the Establishment of the Ideological System in North Korea), in which it touched on the North Korean President’s policy of purging and excluding his opponents in power since 1953 with the aim of controlling the reins of government within the country.

It dealt with the establishment of the principle of the “cult of personality” known as (Juche), which developed in 1956 and ended with the installation of the Juche ideology in 1967, which is the regime that still rules North Korea to this day.

The study added that following the Juche regime, which placed North Korea under a dictatorial and tyrannical regime, was the reason for its isolation from the world to this day, in addition to distancing it from dialogue and peaceful coexistence with the Asian peoples.
