The College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra held a poetry festival under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Girls, Dr. Amal Muhammad Abdel Karim, to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the university.

The poetry festival included listening to the national anthem, in addition to the participation of many female students in the Geography Department by reciting various poetic and literary poems.
At the conclusion of the festival, the female students participating in the festival were honored with gifts and prizes.
