The College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra organized a course entitled “Strategies for Dealing with Autistic Children” as part of its community service activities.

The course included several lectures and awareness workshops on dealing with autistic children. Among these lectures was the lecture given by Dr. Rafif Al-Riahi in cooperation with the Rayhana Center for Special Cases, affiliated with the Rayhana Foundation for Sustainable Development, in which she addressed several topics, including “receptive and expressive communication skills, social skills, and play skills.” “Academic cognitive skills, fine motor skills, and self-care skills.”

The course aimed to create a program for every condition that autistic children suffer from, including if the child is stubborn and if he is unable to speak, to make him receive the language through an illustrated program made of stickers that collect all the things he must know in order to communicate with others. It aimed to raise the efficiency of the center’s workers and increase awareness among parents of autistic children.

In conclusion, an educational and awareness poster was presented by Dr. Rafif to the Rehana Center for Special Cases, entitled “Accept me as I am.”
