A lecturer at the University of Basra participates in the international scientific symposium entitled "Women with Disabilities and the Right to Motherhood"

The lecturer at the College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra, Dr. Fadia Yaqoub Youssef, participated in the international scientific symposium entitled "Women with Disabilities and the Right to Motherhood" under the slogan "Does my disability prevent me from being a mother?"

The participation included presenting a research paper entitled "The Right of Women with Disabilities to Marital Life (A Historical Study)"

The research aimed at the right of women with disabilities to marry, have children and have family life with the aim of building a better future. It is a legitimate right that our religion urges for what results from it in building a family and achieving stability, regardless of the societal view and customs and traditions related to marriage, family and relationships that prevent this, so that stigma and stereotypical views prevent people with disabilities from achieving their full potential. There is no doubt that Sharia has taken care of the affairs of this group and guaranteed them with its various legislations the right to a decent life.
