The College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra, Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the College of Iraq Private University, Department of Law, organized a symposium entitled "Combating Violence against Women in International Covenants and Agreements and National Legislation".
The symposium aimed to identify the meaning of violence, its concept, images, and forms, and the most important international agreements that confronted violence in countries around the world.
The symposium, in which Judge Dr. Mahmoud Al-Hassan, Head of the Law Department at the College of Iraq University, lectured, included the most important international conventions issued to confront violence against women and the importance of women's status in society, and clarifying the most important images and manifestations that reflect the features of domestic violence against women and types of verbal, physical, economic, social, and other violence.
The symposium recommended the importance of protecting women's rights in society and that our Iraqi society is one of the societies that began to confront this phenomenon and that women in Iraqi society and the Iraqi state have held very sensitive positions, which indicates the high status of their status in the state and society.
