The seminar, which is organized by the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences and presented by Dr. Rafif Abdul-Hafidh, included the definition of the term big data, which refers to the vast quantities of different information that are difficult to collect and evaluate through traditional techniques. In addition, it is characterized by the need for rapid treatment in order to show common points and develop education sector.
Abdul-Hafidh added that analyzing this data could have a major impact on all workers in the education sector, starting with teachers, students, and even trainers on educational leadership and management.
The study concluded that the use of big data has radically changed many areas, of which education is one of the most prominent areas affected by this change. In recent years, educational institutions, from primary and secondary schools, to universities and educational service providers via the Internet, have been able to collect, use and exchange data easily and more quickly than ever.
