An awareness seminar was held on the occasion of Human Rights Day under the slogan:
“Human Rights… Civilizational Awareness and Social Responsibility”
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad,
and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Women, Professor Dr. Amal Muhammad,
and with the support of the Assistant to the President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal,
the College of Education for Women organized an awareness seminar on the occasion of Human Rights Day under the slogan:
“Human Rights… Civilizational Awareness and Social Responsibility.” The seminar was held on Wednesday, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit and the Center for Continuing Education.
The seminar was attended by the Assistant to the President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Maitham Abdul-Hussein, along with a number of faculty members and students.
The seminar included two valuable lectures presented by Dr. Etedal Abdulbaqi from the College of Law and Assistant Lecturer Noor Al-Huda Jamil Khalaf from Imam Al-Kadhim College (peace be upon him). They addressed the concept of human rights in national and international legislation, the importance of raising awareness of human rights in society, and the role of educational institutions in establishing a culture of respect for rights and freedoms.
The lecturers also emphasized the responsibility of the individual and society in protecting human rights and the necessity of promoting human values and social justice, particularly within the university environment.
The seminar was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Mutab Al-Rikabi and Assistant Lecturer Duaa Muhammad Khalifa, who provided an opportunity for discussion and questions from the attendees, which contributed to enriching the seminar and facilitating the exchange of ideas.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the lecturers and those responsible for organizing the seminar. Certificates of appreciation were distributed to the lecturers by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, who affirmed the college's commitment to continuing to hold such awareness-raising events that contribute to building civic awareness and strengthening social responsibility among students.
