University of Basrah Organizes the Second Edition of a Specialized Training Workshop on Systematic Reviews Using the PRISMA 2020 Protocol

The College of Education for Women at the University of Basrah organized the second edition of a specialized training workshop titled “Systematic Review Methods and Writing Review Articles Using the PRISMA 2020 Protocol,” under the patronage of the University of Basrah Presidency and the supervision of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal, and Dr. Ali Ahmed, Head of the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and Society محور. The workshop aimed to develop researchers’ skills in conducting systematic reviews and preparing review articles in accordance with recognized research methodologies and scientific standards, thereby improving the quality of studies and enhancing their chances of publication in leading international academic journals.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Hussein Abdul Kareem Younis, who addressed the stages of preparing a systematic review using the PRISMA protocol, beginning with identifying the research problem and formulating research questions, followed by developing search strategies for scientific databases, screening and selecting studies, assessing their quality, and finally analyzing, organizing, and presenting the findings in accordance with established scientific standards.

The workshop also included practical applications designed to train participants in applying the PRISMA methodology to the preparation of review articles, with particular emphasis on organizing and documenting the research process in accordance with the publication requirements of reputable scientific journals.

The workshop emphasized the importance of strengthening research training programs in the field of systematic reviews, encouraging the preparation of high-quality review articles, and supporting scientific publication in leading international journals. Such efforts contribute to advancing scientific research, increasing research productivity, and enhancing the academic standing of the University of Basrah.
