The College of Education for Women at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar titled "Counseling: Prevention and Life—Towards a Youth Aware of the Dangers of Drugs," in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit and the Educational Counseling Unit.The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the dangers and negative consequences of drugs, promote preventive measures, and highlight the role of educational counseling in safeguarding youth against this scourge.The seminar featured presentations by Dr. Hanaa Abdul-Nabi, Dr. Abdul-Karim Zayer, and Dr. Rafeef Abdul-Hafiz, who addressed the health and social harms of drugs, as well as strategies for prevention and curbing their spread.The event concluded by emphasizing the importance of intensifying awareness and counseling programs for students, and strengthening the role of educational institutions in combating drug abuse and fostering societal awareness regarding its risks—all with the goal of protecting the youth and building a safe, well-informed society.
