Participation of a teacher at the University of Basra to discuss a master's thesis
Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Abd Al-Imam Al-Riahi participated in the discussion of a master's thesis in the College of Arts at the University of Basra tagged with (Violation of the principle of gradation of phonetic resonance in the language of the child: from a contrastive and differential perspective)
The thesis presented by the student Ali Mutashar Abboud included five chapters. The first chapter discussed the initial steps of the study. The second chapter was devoted to the theoretical side. The third chapter discussed the research design and methodology. The fourth chapter dealt with data analysis and interpretation and discussion of the results. The fifth chapter included conclusions and recommendations.
The thesis aims to identify syllable-based processes among children of native and semi-native speakers of English using differential theory to account for these processes and how to address violations of the principle of gradation of phonemic resonance in each category. The thesis concluded that indigenous children show a lower frequency of gross violations compared to non-indigenous children.
The thesis recommended that it paves the way for a deeper understanding of differential acoustic violations
