(The Development of Consonantal Segments in the Phonology of Iraqi Three-to-Six Years Children: A Generative Case Study from Missan)
By the student Rabab Qasim Ibrahim from the English Language Department in the College of Arts and under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Abdel Imam Abdel Zahra from the College of Education for Girls
The thesis aims to study the development of consonant sounds in Maysan children and highlight the most important phonological processes in sampled speech
The thesis included five chapters. The first chapter presented the initial steps of the study, the second chapter was devoted to the theoretical aspect, the third chapter was concerned with research design and methodology, the fourth chapter was concerned with data analysis and interpretation, and the fifth chapter included a discussion of the results, conclusions and recommendations.
The study revealed that the most important phonological operations are substitution and deletion, and they occurred for the benefit of three- and four-year-old children.
