The College of Education for Women at University of Basrah held a seminar on "Climate Immigrants: Causes and Consequences", in the presence of a number of researchers. The seminar aimed to present the impact of climate changes on forced migration of the inhabitants in the countries of the world. Dr. Ahmed Jasim discussed the role of global climate changes in causing human migrations as a result of the changes in weather conditions such as storms, hurricanes, floods and droughts which lead to the deterioration of natural environmental resources and the expansion of migration. Thus, the number of immigrants increased and is expected to reach (2) billion people by the year 2100 A. D.
The seminar revealed that forced migrations have led to economic and political problems, as well as armed conflicts between countries
