University of Basra organizes a scientific workshop on "Basics of Writing a Historical Scientific Research Methodology"

 

The College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, organized a scientific in-person workshop entitled "Basics of Writing a Historical Scientific Research Methodology"

The seminar aimed to show that the historical research method is a tool for the science of history in achieving itself by investigating what happened in terms of processes and matters in the past. It is also the historical method that works to analyze and interpret past historical events as a basis for understanding contemporary problems and predicting what the future will be like..

The workshop included the steps of historical research:
• Choosing the study topic: The study topic is chosen between the student and the supervisor.

• Reviewing the study topic by reading the general outlines of the topic.

Dr. Saif Mutaz Al-Manasir discussed that the research plan is divided into chapters and topics and about the types of scientific sources and the method of collecting those sources and the details of their documentation and transferring information from the source used and documenting it inside papers in the form of scraps and then transferring it to the research papers in the form of text and margin.

Assistant Lecturer Yasra Emad stated, "Writing the research requires:-
• Developing a plan of three or four topics
• Developing questions and hypotheses to answer during the research
• The writing method includes paragraphs from several sources that fit the main title of the topic and provide answers to all the questions we have set.

The workshop recommended the necessity of the researcher's commitment to honesty in conveying information and following the scientific methodology in writing the research.
