Two female lecturers at Basra University participate in a conference on children with autism spectrum

The two lecturers at the College of Education for Women at Basra University, Dr. Amal Mahdi Jaber, and Dr. Rafif Abdul-Hafidh Muhammad Taqi participated in the international scientific conference entitled “Children with Autism Spectrum, their Mothers and Teachers between reality and needs”, which was held by the Psychological Research Center at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the Al-Jawhara Organization for Education and Services.
The research, which was entitled “Verbal Communication in Autistic Children from the Teachers’ Point of View” dealt with identifying the level of verbal communication in children with autism from the point of view of their teachers, as well as identifying the differences according to the variables of gender and age according to the viewpoint of their teachers.
The results of the study cindicated that there is no verbal communication among autistic children from the point of view of their teachers, and the presence of statistically significant differences in the gender variable in favor of females and the absence of differences in the age variable for autistic children from the teachers’ point of view.
The two researchers recommended taking into account the individual differences among children in activities, the way they are applied, the necessity of communication and educating parents and urging them to provide an environment rich in activities to continue cooperation between the center and home, in addition to a number of other recommendations.
