A master's thesis at the College of Education for Women at the University of Basra examines "Sheikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa (1872-1942): A Historical Study."
The study, presented by researcher Farah Rashid Melebes Al-Saadoun in the Department of History, aimed to study Bahrain during the reign of Sheikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa (1872-1942).
The study included the life of Sheikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, his administrative and political role, his relations with regional countries, and the economic and cultural developments in Bahrain from 1923 to 1942.
The thesis made several recommendations, including that the reforms witnessed in Bahrain did not stem solely from the internal will of Sheikh Hamad bin Isa, but were also part of the intervention of British influence. The study argues that Britain was the primary driver of administrative, political, economic, and cultural reforms during Sheikh Hamad's reign, but that Sheikh Hamad succeeded in harnessing this geopolitical reality to serve the modernization project and establish the modern state.
