Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Women, Professor Dr. Amal Muhammad, the Gifted Students Unit organized a cultural festival for gifted students. The Departments of Educational and Psychological Sciences, Arabic Language, History, and Geography participated, recognizing the vital role these departments play in promoting human, cultural, and educational awareness.
The festival was held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 9:30 AM in Al-Zahraa Hall, under the supervision of Ms. Baidaa Dawood Salman and Ms. Sarah Jabbar Salman.
The festival began with:
A recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
The national anthem.
A speech by the Dean.
A speech by the Head of the Gifted Students Unit.
A segment featuring success stories.
A theatrical performance entitled: "Don't Call Me Disabled."
An art exhibition by gifted students. The festival's objectives were:
To raise community awareness of the importance of supporting students with exceptional abilities and highlighting their positive role in academic and social life.
To showcase the talents of students with exceptional abilities through interactive segments and activities that highlight their creative potential.
To encourage university integration by providing a collaborative environment that includes students, faculty members, and various academic departments.
The festival witnessed a remarkable turnout and significant interaction from students and faculty members. It included a range of educational and artistic activities that reflected the students' abilities and the college's commitment to supporting and empowering them.
This festival is part of the College of Education for Women's mission to promote an inclusive learning environment that provides equal opportunities for students and nurtures their talents and abilities within the framework of its educational and humanitarian mission.
