University of Basra organizes a symposium on the crude oil and natural gas fields in Basra Governorate and their industrial importance

The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Girls organized a symposium on the crude oil and natural gas fields in Basra Governorate and their industrial importance, presented by lecturer Fatima Ayoub from the Geography Department.

The symposium touched on the study of the geological structure of Basra Governorate, as it has an important impact on establishing industrial projects because it reveals natural resources and other minerals.

The symposium calculated that Basra Governorate possesses (11) oil fields producing crude oil and natural gas, namely the fields of (Zubair, North Rumaila, South Rumaila, Luhais, West Qurna, Majnoon, Nahr Bin Omar, Tuba, Artawi, Al-Fayha, and Siba).

The symposium added that there are a number of non-producing fields of crude oil and associated natural gas in Basra Governorate, namely (4) (Al-Raji, Sinbad, Abu Khaimah, and Jarishan).
