The College of Education for Girls organized an awareness festival and reception for first-year students. 2025-2026

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad,

and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Women, Professor Dr. Amal Muhammad,
the College of Education for Women organized an awareness and orientation festival for first-year students, in cooperation with the Women's Affairs Unit, the Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit, the Human Rights Unit, and the Special Needs Unit, on November 24, 2025.

The festival began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by reciter Nasser Khalil. Dr. Issa Saad Issa then presented the program as master of ceremonies. A speech was delivered on behalf of the Dean, welcoming the new students and emphasizing that the college is always open to support and empower them, and that the college's units work as a team to provide a safe and stimulating university environment conducive to success.

Festival Themes
During the festival, the speakers focused on introducing first-year students to the college's key units and their role in supporting them. Highlights of the seminar included:

Women's Affairs Unit: Raising awareness among students about their rights, empowering them, and enhancing their community participation.

Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit: Providing psychological support and educational follow-up for academic challenges.

Human Rights Unit: Protecting students' rights.

Special Needs Unit: Providing academic support and necessary services for students with disabilities.

Theatrical Performance – “Rise Up, Fatima”
The festival included a moving theatrical performance by the students entitled “Rise Up, Fatima.” This social play portrays the role of women in building society, highlighting their strength, determination, and ability to face challenges, conveying a clear message that women are essential partners in knowledge, work, and progress. The presentation was met with great enthusiasm from the audience due to its educational and humanitarian content, reflecting the reality of Iraqi women and their active role.

Festival Objectives:

To welcome new students and introduce them to the college and its departments.

To promote a culture of rights and academic support.

To instill a sense of awareness and self-confidence in the students from their very first day.

The festival witnessed remarkable interaction from the students, who posed questions and offered insights that reflected their awareness and readiness to integrate into university life.

In conclusion, the Dean of the College expressed her gratitude to all the departments and lecturers, affirming the continuation of these events, which contribute to creating a positive and supportive university environment for students.
